Urban event Lasipalatsi Design Markets & Fashion Film Festival brings fresh design ideas and products, fashionable films and summery vibes to Helsinki residents and visitors alike. The event is part of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 program. Organised for the fourth time, Lasipalatsi Design Markets hosted an exciting group of up-and-coming designers who will present and sell their products at Lasipalatsi square. The event offered a wonderful opportunity to find unique, cutting edge clothes, accesories, jewellery and homeware - all under one tent at an easy to reach location at the heart of Helsinki. Finnish brands selected for the event include 13, &Bros., 19ST, 2. Elämä, Ainokainen, Annielina, Costo, Ding's Narrative House, EL, First Crush, Herkkusuu korut, iina vuorivirta, Jatuli, Kauniste, Kokoru, Linda Sipilä, POGOSTICK failure, PaaPii Design, Mari & Arrow, Mary A. In honour of the World Design Capital Year, Lasipalatsi Design Markets also welcomes two brands from Galicia, Spain: Le Chanelas and Comocuando. This year the event had a new addition with the introduction of Fashion Film Festival. Held at the architecturally unique cinema Bio Rex at Lasipalatsi, this stylish festival is the first of its kind in Finland. Fashion Film Festival's international program focuses on the fascinating dialogue between fashion, design and film. The festival opens with the quintessential fashion film, Blow-up, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni in 1966 and depicting London in all its Swinging Sixties glory. Other highlights of the program include the award winning documentary Bill Cunningham New York and short films by filmmaker and Ivana Helsinki designer Paola Suhonen. Fashion Film Festival is organised in cooperation with Ivana Helsinki and Finland's National Audiovisual Archive.
The free program on the square features among other things a photography and graphic art exhibition by photographers Juho Heikkinen and Päivi Anita Ristell and illustrator Ilona Partanen. Inside the tent, various DJ's provide a sunny beat. |
